“The Prime Minister is about to pass a law banning Christmas. Write a letter to convince him that Christmas should not be banned.”

Dear Prime Minister,

I am writing to you with regard to your plans to ban Christmas in Greece. I disagree with your decision and I kindly ask you to read this letter carefully and think about your plans again.

First and foremost, Christmas is about celebrating the birth of God, so it is not wise to ban it. That would mean that we are disrespectful to those who believe in Him and most people in Greece do. We should show respect to people’s religion and beliefs even if they are different from ours.

Secondly, Christmas is an opportunity for us to meet those we love and talk to them. Especially the elderly are in need of company and Christmas holidays are the perfect opportunity for their friends and family to visit them and spend some quality time with them.

Furthermore, banning Christmas also means banning all the delicious food that goes along with it. There is a large number of people who like Christmas food so much that they cannot imagine giving it up. Children are the main lovers of Christmas food and they would be disappointed if they
stopped having it.

Children also see Christmas as a break from school, a way to calm their minds and relax. In fact, adults need a break from work too, because too much work without holidays can make someone miserable and unable to keep working. Therefore, it is important to take a break once in a while
and relax.

Last but not least, Christmas is all about childhood memories, customs and traditions. To ban Christmas is to ban all those things we have been enjoying for so many years. If our traditions were forgotten, our life would be monotonous and we would be unhappy.

In conclusion, I think that banning Christmas is not a good idea because people need this holiday break, its traditions and also some time to be together with their loved ones. It is not my decision to make and you can do whatever you consider to be right. However, I really hope I have
convinced you not to ban Christmas.

Most respectfully,
